The teams in community pharmacy are ideally placed to work with the local community to improve health by offering advice and support relating to exercise, healthy eating, weight management, alcohol intake, smoking and more.
This course will enable you to get a better understanding of your community’s health and wellbeing and what health inequalities exist. It will give you the tools to help start conversations with people within your pharmacy about their health, allowing you and your team to promote a healthier lifestyle to everyone.
The course follows the 4 modules in the RSPH syllabus and covers the following;
- Understanding how inequalities in health develop and what the current policies are for addressing them
- How effective communication can support health messages
- Learn how to promote improvements in health and wellbeing in individuals
- Understanding the impact of change improving an individual’s health and wellbeing
The course also has an introductory module telling people about the course and how to use it as well as a final module explaining to them how they get their exam paper.
At the end of the course, there are 30 multiple choice questions to answer in a timed exam setting (at your pharmacy) 20 questions need to be answered successfully to pass the course.
VirtualOutcomes organise the exam paper to be sent to the invigilating pharmacist. Once the candidate has completed the paper it is sent back to us for marking by the RSPH. If the candidate is successful they will receive a certificate from the RSPH that can be put in the pharmacy’s HLP folder.
The course is designed to be completed online at the convenience of the candidate and can be accessed via tablet, computer, laptop or mobile device. Some parts will need to be printed as there are exercises to do along the way, but the candidate can work through at their own pace with no time limit.
